We are seeking an experienced BIM Detailer for El Cajon Construction office with a strong background in MEP fabrication to support our growing volume of commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with at least five years of hands-on experience in BIM coordination and detailing within a fabrication environment. Due to rapid growth and an expanding project pipeline, this position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, coordinated construction documents and models.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and produce detailed BIM models for MEP systems, with a focus on fabrication-level detailing
Create coordinated shop drawings, spool drawings, and installation layouts for field use
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability and accuracy
Perform clash detection and participate in coordination meetings to resolve design conflicts
Maintain and update models throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines
Interpret contract drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements
Support prefabrication efforts by generating accurate and constructible models
Assist in establishing BIM standards, workflows, and best practices
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of BIM detailing experience within the construction industry
Proven experience in MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) with a strong emphasis on fabrication detailing
Proficiency in Trimble (formerly Tekla/Trimble MEP or SysQue) and other BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, or AutoCAD
Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and coordination practices
Experience producing fabrication-level drawings and working with prefabrication teams
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects
Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to MEP systems
Field experience or exposure to installation practices
