Assistant Controller | Fort Lauderdale, FL (Onsite)
We’re assisting a high‑growth construction and solar energy organization in the Fort Lauderdale area with a search for an experienced Assistant Controller. This is a key leadership role supporting a business scaling toward ~$1B in annual revenue, and the ideal candidate will have experience in large, complex construction environments.
📍 Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (100% onsite)
💰 Salary: $150K–$170K base
👉 Target range: $155K–$160K (flexible for the right candidate)
🎯 Bonus: ~20% annual bonus (paid at fiscal year-end)
Role Overview
The Assistant Controller will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and controls, while leading and developing an accounting team. This role partners closely with senior leadership and plays a major role in scaling processes, strengthening controls, and supporting continued growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor the accounting team (GL, AP/AR, payroll)
- Own month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Oversee financial statements and executive reporting
- Manage WIP reporting, job costing, backlog, and margin analysis
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 (percentage‑of‑completion)
- Oversee construction billing (AIA, retainage, lien waivers)
- Partner on cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Strengthen internal controls and support audits, lenders, and tax advisors
- Drive ERP optimization and process improvements (Sage, Procore, NetSuite, or similar)
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong construction or project‑based industry background required
- 5 years of experience leading accounting teams
- Deep expertise in:
- Job costing & WIP
- Construction billing
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
- Advanced Excel and strong system proficiency
VERY IMPORTANT – EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
✅ Candidates must come from companies with $350M in annual revenue
✅ $500M revenue construction experience strongly preferred
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
