Assistant Store Manager

The Assistant Store Manager – Customer Service serves a critical role in the customer experience at Applejack Wine & Spirits.  This role is responsible for supporting the Store Manager with the daily business operations and HR operations of the store.  General tasks include supervising front end employees, communicating with customers, and carrying out directives given by the Store Manager and the corporate General Manager.

 Duties and responsibilities

Provide Excellent Customer Service

• Solely responsible for the satisfaction and retention of our customers through exceptional leadership
• Interact with customers, process customer complaints, and work to resolve issues
• Provide a positive and healthy work environment and culture that promotes customer service, front-end staff development and achievements
• Monitors and reports on the performance metrics for the Customer Service area
• Establish trainings and communication paths to keep staff up to date on best sellers, out of stock issues, special orders, and other customer centric information

Store Operations

• Oversee all front-end operations including Customer Service, Cashiers, and Carryout
• Review front-end staff performance and offer constructive feedback
• Create standard operating procedures as needed
• Maintain store safety standards and store cleanliness
• Assist with day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing duties
• Responsible for the safety of customers and team members, including monitoring for shoplifters, removing items from floor, following safety protocols and training staff in safety protocols.

 Human Resource Operations

• Create and input staffing schedules on a weekly basis based on sales metrics

• Assist with the interviewing, hiring, and training of store staff

• Manage, coach, and drive the performance of the Customer Service team
• Coordinates new hire orientation and oversees the on-boarding process

• Organize training programs for staff to facilitate improved job knowledge

• Oversee the coaching and guidance of Customer Service employees, including their interactions with customers, co-workers and vendors
• Assists with planning and executing special events such as annual benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and holiday parties

General

• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2 years of retail leadership experience
• 5 years of Customer Service experience
• Proven ability to manage, develop and motivate a large team
• Exercise a high level of work integrity, honesty, and various other virtues that reflect the core values of a retail establishment

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 40-60 lbs.
• Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must pass background check
