Apple Tree Dental is a nationally recognized, innovative non-profit group practice committed to delivering comprehensive, high-quality dental care to patients of all ages and abilities. We serve communities both at our Centers for Dental Health and through mobile and on-site services in long-term care and assisted living facilities, Head Start centers, group homes, and schools.

 

The Development Associate, Donor Engagement and Grants supports the organization’s fundraising and development efforts by providing coordination, donor stewardship, donor communications, and development administrative support. The position helps maintain strong relationships with donors and funding partners, ensures accurate and timely development records, and assists with fundraising campaigns, grant activities, special events, and other initiatives that advance Apple Tree Dental's mission and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Writing, Management, and Reporting: 

  • Work closely with organization program managers, administrators, and other stakeholders to gather and compile information and data pertaining to Apple Tree’s programs and initiatives to create/write grant proposals and reports. 

  • Track grant application and reporting due dates; assess data needed for each funder and prepare material to complete the applications and reports. 

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate funding reports to grantors and key stakeholders, detailing the use and impact of funds through stories and statistics. 

  • Manage the grant reporting process, maintaining a system to track grant reporting deadlines and requirements, and monitoring awarded grant project objectives and timelines.  

  • Monitor grant-funded projects for compliance with grant terms, timelines, and outcomes. 

 

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: 

  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns targeting corporate donors, foundations, and individual donors. This will include annual appeals, online giving campaigns, or specific initiatives aligned with Apple Tree's mission. 

  • Work with the Communications Team to create and support the creation of written materials including donor communications, appeals, and public outreach. 

  • Work with Leadership to support Board of Directors fundraising efforts. 

  • Help maintain and enhance relationships with existing funders, sponsors, and donors. 

  • Identify new funding opportunities and corporate sponsors. Conduct research on potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities. 

 

Donor Database and Gift Operations 

  • Manage or support the implementation and maintenance of electronic grant management systems. 

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of donors in the CRM donor management system. This includes tracking contributions, communications, and any relevant information to personalize interactions. 

  • Proficient at creating donor reports, campaigns, and promotions using the CRM donor management system. 

  • Implement systems for evaluating and analyzing the success of CRM donor data and other development programs to identify trends and inform future fundraising strategies. 

 

Event Planning and Execution: 

  • Responsible for planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising events, tours, and site visits to enhance donor engagement and support. 

  • Work closely with the Communications Team to plan, promote, and follow up on fundraising events. 

  • Represent the organization at community outreach events, as needed.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of three to five years experience in nonprofit development.
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent of 10 years of experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged sitting may be required. 

  • Must be able to perform physical movements/motions with the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with office tasks on a frequent, repetitive basis.

  • The ability to distinguish letters and symbols. 

  • The ability to utilize telephones, computers, keyboards and copiers is required. 

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions, and tolerate irregular hours when required. 

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. is required.

  • Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator, adding machine and keyboard
