Job Description:

Maintenance Technician

Assists the Maintenance Director in the maintenance and repair of the physical plant and ground, equipment and various building systems. Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools. The Maintenance Technician advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations. Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff and performs responsibilities with a minimum disruption to the facility. The Maintenance Technician Inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.

• This position requires on-call during non-scheduled working hours and may be required to stay or be called in, especially in an emergency.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record.
• The Maintenance Technician demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
• Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop, climb, twist, work in tight quarters or in high places and have gross motor coordination, balance and fine hand coordination especially to operate machinery and tools.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items weighing approximately 50-75 pounds
