Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop rural health career pathways and employer or training-site networks. Work with educational programs, healthcare employers, public health agencies, behavioral health providers, emergency services, community organizations, and training sites to define pathways, participant roles, learning experiences, supervision, and progression from education into rural employment.
  • Provide specialized career guidance and participant preparation. Assess interests, preparation, and career goals; explain pathway, placement, and applicable service-commitment requirements; support career-readiness activities; and help students and trainees navigate Scholars, Fellows, apprenticeships, paid work-based learning, clinical and field placements, rural rotations, community-based experiences, and related programs.
  • Assess and strengthen employer and training-site readiness. • Coordinate participant-site matching, experiential learning, and placement follow-through. Work with participants, academic programs, employers, providers, and community sites to identify appropriate opportunities, confirm requirements, support onboarding, monitor progress, resolve barriers, and strengthen transition from the experience into rural employment.
  • Develop and deliver career-services resources, training, and partner support. Create pathway maps, employer and supervisor guides, placement tools, orientation materials, training sessions, career-connected project resources, and other supports tailored to participant and site needs.
  • Monitor outcomes and coordinate regional follow-up. Track participant, employer, site, placement, completion, credential, transition-to-employment, and retention outcomes; gather feedback; identify recurring barriers; maintain required documentation; coordinate with App State, Vaya, AHEC, public health anchors, and other partners; and recommend improvements.
