What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal River Staff Member position at Appalachian Outfitters?
Appalachian Outfitters has been providing Canoe, Kayak and Tubing trips on the Chestatee River in Dahlonega since 1981. We are hiring for the 2025 season to add to our River Staff. If you are personable, physically fit and love working in the outdoors this is a great Spring/Summer Job! If you are a college student we can schedule around your class schedule. Weekly hours can vary between 10 to 40 hrs per week. We work hard but it is a fun and rewarding job getting our customers to and from their river trips.
JOB DETAILS INCLUDE: Providing customer service for people who come to paddle or float the Chestatee River. This includes getting customers and their gear to and from the river trip. Informing our customers of their upcoming trip and help making the experience as safe and easy as possible. You will learn about the river and the equipment that we use so that you can convey this to customers. Learning to help load/unload canoes, kayaks and tubes on our trailers. Learning to drive our shuttle vans and trailers between the river access points.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must be 19 years old. Have a good driving record. Also be capable of helping load canoes and kayaks and tubes on trailers often above head height. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays including Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. Work scheduling hours depends on our seasonal hours and your availabilty during our season (March through October)
