About the Position
The East Kentucky Logistics Coordinator is part of ASP’s New Build & Disaster Recovery program and reports to the East Kentucky Regional Director. They support and facilitate overall programmatic operations as part of the THRIVE (Transforming Homes and Rebuilding in Vulnerable Environments) Program in East Kentucky communities. They assist with management and oversight of field, volunteer, and construction activities within the program’s service area.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position based in our Hazard, Kentucky office. Irregular hours may be required. This role requires extensive travel between multiple construction sites, communities, and counties in East Kentucky, as well as other possible locations across ASP’s service area.
Job Responsibilities
Construction & Field Operations
- Assist with construction projects at all stages, including but not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining project schedules
- Securing pre-construction certificates and requirements (i.e., surveys, site plans, elevations certificates, building plans)
- Ensure all construction work is code-compliant and that all individuals on sites follow safe working practices
- Maintain proper inventory control for all resources, equipment, tools, and materials, and deliver or coordinate delivery to worksites according to project schedules
- Consistently and respectfully communicate with all involved parties, including suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, volunteers, and current and prospective clients.
- Manage all required project inspection schedules
- Manage subcontractors and their work, including receipt of proper paperwork prior to working, and verifying that the full scope of contracted work is completed satisfactorily before payment is released.
- Assist with project paperwork, pictures, and records.
- Support and coordinate with other ASP departments and programs, including local Summer Repair Program efforts.
Volunteer Management
- Partner with the Volunteer Department and other staff to coordinate volunteer experiences.
- Complete volunteer group information reports.
- Manage volunteers while on site teaching basic skills while ensuring quality, safety, and stewardship of volunteers and ASP resources.
Budget Management
- Review weekly financial management reports for accuracy and budget adherence.
- Assist in budgeting and coding receipts and invoices as requested.
Program Operations & Grant Compliance
- As a part of the East Kentucky Hub, assist with tasks to have the hub equipped and ready to continue expanding construction operations, receive and facilitate volunteers, and respond to local disaster incidents, as needed.
- Assist with meeting grant performance and reporting requirements.
- Build upon and expand current partnerships for volunteers, donors, grant funders, contractors, stakeholders, and community supporters.
Administrative
- Update East Kentucky THRIVE Program procedure manuals as needed.
- Seek applicable training opportunities to enhance skill and knowledge.
- Prepare for and participate in ongoing evaluation processes.
- Coordinate with other departments and aspects of ASP’s mission, as needed.
- Adhere to organizational and departmental core values, expectations, guiding principles, mission, vision, and budget guidelines.

Candidate Description
Required:
- Willingness to work in a Christian environment
- 1 year of previous work experience in construction management or similar role
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and equipment
- Understanding of construction management processes
- Able to multitask with a strong understanding of core manager duties
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills
- Highly organized, ability to plan ahead, attention to detail and ability to work well in a team
- Conflict resolution and conflict management experience
- Excellent time management ability
Desired:
- Experience hauling trailers, operating small equipment such as a skid steer.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resources
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable to ASP’s insurer.
- Ability to lift items (boxes, materials) weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Satisfactory results on a thorough background check.
