Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Structural Engineer in the North Charlotte NC area
This is a long term opportunity with a busy Structural engineering firm
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Analysis & Design
- Independently perform structural analysis and design in compliance with current applicable codes and accepted engineering standards.
- Apply both manual calculation methods and advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools to develop and verify structural solutions.
- Evaluate structural systems for new construction and renovation/retrofit projects across a variety of building types and materials.
Documentation & Technical Deliverables
- Prepare and review complete structural drawing packages including plans, sections, details, and elevations.
- Draft and edit project specifications to ensure clarity, technical accuracy, and code compliance.
- Coordinate drawing production and maintain organized project documentation throughout all project phases.
Project Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate structural design with Architects, MEP engineers, civil engineers, and other project consultants to resolve design conflicts and technical issues.
- Communicate effectively — both verbally and in writing — with project stakeholders at all levels.
- Professionally represent the firm at project meetings, pre-fabrication conferences, pre-construction meetings, and construction kick-off meetings.
Construction Administration
- Perform all construction administration duties including timely review and response to Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittal reviews.
- Conduct site visits as required to observe construction progress, verify conformance with structural drawings, and resolve field issues.
- Prepare site visit reports and maintain clear records of construction-phase communications and decisions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil (Structural Engineering) from an accredited institution.
- EIT license is required and PE license is a plus
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of relevant building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Preferred
- 3 years of experience in a structural engineering consulting environment.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM-based workflows.
- Familiarity with construction administration processes and contract documentation.
