We’re working with a top-performing, quantitative investment firm building and operating large-scale compute platforms that underpin systematic research, portfolio construction, and live trading.
This role sits at the core of the firm’s engineering and research infrastructure.
You’ll be responsible for shaping how compute is provisioned, scaled, and optimized across thousands of research and production workloads - directly impacting researcher velocity, system reliability, and capital efficiency. It’s a deep systems platform engineering position for someone who enjoys solving hard problems at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and evolve a high-performance compute platform supporting large-scale research, simulation, and production workloads
- Design systems for job scheduling, resource allocation, workload isolation, and cost/performance optimization
- Partner closely with quant researchers and engineers to understand compute needs and remove infrastructure bottlenecks
- Lead complex initiatives in AWS
- Set technical direction, raise engineering standards, and mentor senior engineers
- Own reliability, scalability, and observability of core compute services
What They’re Looking For
- Strong background in systems, infrastructure, or platform engineering
- Experience designing or operating large-scale compute environments (HPC, distributed systems, batch/cluster compute, internal platforms)
- Strong development experience with languages such as Python, Java, Golang etc
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes / container orchestration or custom schedulers,
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and/or large on-prem clusters
- Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, internal tooling, CI/CD)
- Comfortable operating at Principal / Staff level - driving architecture.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with highly technical stakeholders
