Mechanical Inspector
Location: Wayne, NJ
Job Type: Contract
Shift: 1st Shift, 9/80 schedule
Hours: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $22.09 per hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Inspector to support quality inspection of electronic and mechanical assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves inspecting circuit cards, wiring, components, and finished assemblies, documenting defects, and working with engineering to ensure products meet specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and configure MIDS-JTRS and MIDS programs to ensure compliance with current revisions.
- Inspect electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, components, and parts using blueprints, drawings, method sheets, schematics, and assembly manuals.
- Examine wiring, cables, hardware, and components to identify assembly defects.
- Perform conformal coating inspections using black light scopes.
- Conduct mechanical inspections using calipers, gauges, and other hand measurement tools.
- Verify compliance with applicable IPC and J-STD quality standards using specifications, drawings, process instructions, and engineering change orders.
- Identify and document defects, enter inspection results into tracking systems, and verify corrective actions following rework or repair.
- Collaborate with engineering to resolve technical issues and clarify engineering changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of work experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow process instructions, drawings, and inspection documentation.
- Proficiency with inspection tools, including calipers, microscopes, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach to achieving objectives.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of quality inspection experience involving complex circuit card assemblies.
- Soldering or solder inspection experience.
- Technical school training in electronics manufacturing.
- IPC-A-610 and IPC-620 certifications.
- Experience performing measurements with mechanical hand tools.
