Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and dispense medications, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications, following aseptic techniques and sterile IV admixture procedures.
- Utilize pharmacy software systems for data entry, medication tracking, and inventory management to ensure seamless workflow.
- Assist pharmacists with medication administration, drug regulation compliance, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations to verify dosages and ensure medication accuracy for diverse patient populations.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication information, answering inquiries, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Maintain strict adherence to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards, including drug regulation protocols and healthcare regulations.
- Conduct inventory checks, restock supplies, and manage medication storage to uphold safety standards in hospital or community pharmacy settings.
Experience
- Proven pharmacy technician experience in hospital or community pharmacy environments with a focus on acute care or critical care settings preferred.
- Demonstrated LTC pharmacy experience or familiarity with long-term care medication protocols is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and pharmaceutical calculations essential for accurate medication preparation.
- Experience with pharmacy software systems used in hospital or retail pharmacies to facilitate efficient data entry and medication tracking.
- Hands-on experience with IV compounding, aseptic technique, sterile IV admixture procedures, and maintaining patient confidentiality is required.
- Strong understanding of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and federal pharmacy laws to ensure compliance at all times.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals in high-pressure environments.
