Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including sterile IV infusion and compounding medications using aseptic techniques and sterile IV admixture procedures.
- Enter prescription data accurately into pharmacy software systems while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to data entry protocols.
- Support medication administration processes, ensuring proper pharmacological medical terminology is used for clear communication.
- Conduct pharmaceutical calculations to verify dosages and ensure safe medication dispensing in compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceuticals according to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards.
- Provide excellent patient service by answering medication-related questions, supporting patient care initiatives, and ensuring timely medication delivery.
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital pharmacy protocols, drug regulation guidelines, and medical terminology standards during all pharmacy operations.
- Must be a fast learner.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program; current registration with state healthcare authorities.
- Proven experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care, or hospital pharmacy environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, including drug regulation and state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Experience with pharmacy software systems for data entry, medication tracking, and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of clinical pharmacy practices such as IV compounding, aseptic technique, sterile IV admixture procedures, and medication administration.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred; additional certifications related to pharmaceutical calculations or medical terminology are a plus.
