Apogee is seeking an AI Systems Engineer to support Space Systems Command (SSC).
The GSIS Program is seeking a skilled Mid-Level Enterprise Data & AI Platform Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership and systems engineering expertise in support of advanced space-related Major Defense Acquisition Programs. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of systems engineering, data architecture, artificial intelligence, and cloud platform experience, with a strong commitment to advancing Department of Defense mission objectives.
This position is a full time position located in El Segundo, CA
Responsibilities
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must have at time of applicaiton and be able to maintain a Secret level clearance
Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, mathematics, computer science , or equivalent technical discipline
Years of Experience: 3 years of experience working on a space-related (space, ground, software, hardware system) Major Defense Acquisition Program
Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance
Certifications: INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification s ( ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP)
Education: Master’s degree in an engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent technical discipline

Responsibilities
- Support space-related (space, ground, software, hardware) Major Defense Acquisition Program activities, ensuring alignment with program requirements and technical baselines.
- Develop and maintain system architectures by mapping requirements to physical and functional components and managing configuration baselines.
- Create and execute technical documentation, including technical specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), integration plans and schedules, inter-service support agreements, system behavior diagrams, sequence diagrams, and network diagrams.
- Assist in the development and integration of AI applications or DoD cloud systems (Azure preferred), supporting secure and scalable platform design.
- Apply DevSecOps principles and Agile methodologies across system development and integration activities.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to users, engineers, and leadership stakeholders.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and visualization using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable systems engineering standards, including IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2.
- Contribute to mission assurance efforts through proactive problem-solving, collaboration, and adherence to DoD best practices.

- Strong understanding of space systems and the corresponding design, development, manufacturing, integration and test, deployment, operations, and decommissioning activities
- Knowledge of DoD 5000.01/02
