JOB TITLE: Mix operator

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for Pre-measuring ingredients for all formulas and mixing the ingredients to produce a Work-In-Progress (WIP) mixture of batters and doughs for further processing.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Follow all HACCP/SQF/Preventive Controls Product handling process including prerequisite programs such as allergen management, good manufacturing practices, sanitation, and others.

· Complete all paperwork by recording product date code and fill all HACCP documentation on each product as needed

· Monitoring that all products meet standards

· Process daily paperwork accurately

· Report all observed deviations to QA Manager/ Production Lead and/or Production Supervisor

· Reports personnel or product safety concerns to supervisor or management and takes action as necessary to protect people and or product.

· Responsible for Food Safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and follows bill of materials and work instructions in mixing batters and doughs for production
  • Records lot numbers for materials used on batch tickets
  • Gathers ingredients from the cooler or dry storage.
  • Measure, weigh and prepare ingredients for production of formulas.
  • Loads ingredients into appropriate mixer per work instructions.
  • Will gain a strong understanding of the product characteristics fo each product produced from a QA perspective.
  • Operates machine until mixture reaches desired consistency. Performs quality check on each batch.
  • Equipment operations of automatic mixing machines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of all required daily paperwork/documentation in assigned area.
  • Responsible for monitoring product quality and adjusting as required to ensure quality products. Alert supervisor to materials and products that are out of specifications. Use “QA Hold System” as required.
  • Ensure safe work habits are used, including compliance to all safety standards and rules.
  • Participate in and lead product evaluations, as required.
  • Ensure sanitation standards are used in manufacturing facility, including compliance with GMP’s, adherence to glove and uniform policy, and the proper use of tools.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Provide short-term support as a back-up machine operator during breaks, lunches, and times of illness.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Six months’ experience in food manufacturing or other similar experience.

NECESSARY CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

None

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read packaging and processing schedules and all other packaging information and match other written data. Ability to legibly write to complete the required daily paperwork/documentation. Ability to verbally communicate with others to discuss and confirm written information. Ability to give and follow verbal and written directions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Able to lead other workers.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

General electronic device and ERP software a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must be able to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and sit. The employee must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee in this position must be able to hear in order to work with and around equipment with moving parts

Salary: From $18.00 per hour
