APN Healthcare Solutions is urgently hiring multiple Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health for our client in Salisbury, NC for a 13 Weeks contract with a high possibility of extension.

Position Title: Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health
Pay Rate: Up to $47/hr travelers eligible for stipend!!
Work Location: Salisbury, NC
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (6:45pm-7:15am)
Hours/Week: 36 hours (3x12)
Contract Duration: 13–16 weeks High possibility of Extension
License Requirement: Active RN license
Certification Requirement: BLS, MOAB

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, behavioral challenges, and co-occurring disorders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in psychiatric nursing, demonstrate excellent patient assessment skills, and be committed to delivering person-centered care within a supportive environment. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and behavioral observations to inform individualized care plans.
• Administer medications accurately, including psychotropic agents, and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to develop and implement effective treatment strategies aligned with patient needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff.
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
• Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication management, and coping strategies to promote recovery.
• Assist with discharge planning by coordinating community resources and ensuring continuity of care.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively for documentation and communication within the care team.
• Support the integration of behavioral health services into primary care or outpatient settings as needed.

Experience

• Valid nursing license (RN) with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Prior experience working in behavioral health settings such as psychiatric units, mental health clinics, or inpatient facilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dementia care (including Alzheimer's), and trauma-related conditions.
• Experience with crisis intervention techniques and managing acute psychiatric episodes.
• Familiarity with medical documentation standards such as ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), medication administration protocols, and patient assessment tools.
• Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is preferred.
• Exposure to diverse populations including pediatrics (e.g., Toddler or Neonatal care), geriatrics (including memory or dementia care), individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring long-term or post-acute care.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as emergency rooms or trauma centers.
• Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques relevant to psychiatric nursing.
