Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Department Manager to lead a regional team of engineers and designers supporting Life Science facility projects. This leadership role combines technical expertise, people management, project planning, and client engagement to deliver innovative electrical engineering solutions. The successful candidate will oversee department operations, support business growth, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring high-quality project execution.
This is a hybrid position based in Conshohocken, PA, requiring 3 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Northeast Regional Electrical Department Manager, leading a team of approximately 20 engineers and designers supporting multiple projects across various phases of design and construction.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for engineering team members while monitoring performance and fostering career growth.
- Interface directly with clients to understand project scope, objectives, and deliverable requirements.
- Lead early feasibility studies and conceptual design efforts as part of multidisciplinary project teams to develop project reports and cost estimates.
- Develop project staffing plans and engineering estimates based on project scope and deliverables.
- Conduct department meetings to communicate business strategies, coordinate project activities, and optimize regional staffing resources.
- Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering Department Director, Life Science North America, to align business strategies, project proposals, staffing, and organizational priorities.
- Manage regional staffing requirements, workforce planning, and escalate strategic technical challenges when necessary.
- Provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of electrical systems supporting Life Science facilities.
- Ensure successful collaboration across multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of practical electrical engineering and design experience.
- Extensive experience designing building electrical systems and applying NFPA 70 (NEC) and applicable local building specialty codes.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred.
- Experience with:
- Medium- and low-voltage power system design.
- Large UPS and generator system design.
- Lighting system design.
- Grounding system design.
- Heat trace system design.
- Experience working within cross-functional design teams supporting Life Science facilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering and design professionals, including performance management and professional development.
- Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary engineering teams and working directly with client technical representatives.
- Experience preparing electrical design staffing estimates based on project scope and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing Life Science campus facilities.
- Proficient working knowledge of Revit.
- Extensive experience collaborating with Life Science client electrical professionals.
