Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual surface grinding machines to achieve specified dimensions and surface finishes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining instructions to determine grinding parameters.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality.
- Adjust machine settings based on inspection results to ensure consistent production quality.
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration checks.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate machining tasks and meet production deadlines.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspection results, and machine adjustments for quality assurance purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings for machining specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machining processes such as grinding, milling, turning, welding, and fabrication.
- Experience operating manual surface grinders with a focus on precision finishing. .
- Ability to use hand tools, tooling equipment, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure parts meet exact specifications.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during machining processes.
- Understanding of safety protocols related to grinding machines, electrical discharge machining (EDM), plasma cutting, stamping presses, CNC machines, welding, crane operation, and sheet metal handling.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality inspection and assembly tasks.
