Test Engineer III

Location: Redmond, Washington (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking a Test Engineer for a role focused on the validation of hardware and software stacks for a satellite's vehicle power system. This position supports the design, build, and test of complex vehicle power systems. The role is hands-on, involving flight vehicle design and verification, test infrastructure design reviews, and the execution of validation campaigns for power components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and automate new vehicle test cases to validate and verify satellite performance against requirements.
  • Collaborate with operators and engineers to troubleshoot anomalies found in production hardware and software tests.
  • Develop standard operating procedures to scale routine satellite operations and reduce non-conformances.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to capture power systems test venue needs and requirements.
  • Provide test input to vehicle power system design trade studies and support next-generation power systems development.
  • Design, prototype, and deploy test systems hardware and software to verify and validate power systems performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in a hardware or software test role
  • Experience working on power systems in automotive, autonomy, consumer electronics, energy storage, or other related fields
  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals (DC circuits, power electronics, sensing, protection) and test equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, DAQs, oscilloscopes, DMMs)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small to medium technical projects, including planning, prioritization, cross-functional coordination, and on-time execution in a hardware or test engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of modern software engineering (automation, algorithms, unit testing, etc.).
  • Experience working on power systems for aerospace programs (drones, launch vehicles, satellites, etc.).
  • Experience with technical document creation (SOPs, work instructions, run-books, etc.).
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing of power systems hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to build mechanisms that reduce routine work and bring processes to scale.
