REL Instructional Designer
Location: Merrifield, Virginia (Hybrid)
Alternate Location: Pensacola, Florida, Winchester, Virginia, Vienna, Virginia (Hybrid)
Role Overview
This position involves planning and managing instructional design projects. The role requires developing instructional courses tailored to meet desired learning outcomes. The specialist will collaborate to implement strategies for training employees to achieve higher performance levels. This role operates with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, Communication, Behavioral Sciences, Training Development, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Experience: 1-5 years of experience. Experience in evaluating the effectiveness of courses, learning products, and delivery methods. Experience in researching/writing course content and/or developing courses, demonstrations, and graphic designs.
Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of instructional theories and educational psychology. Working knowledge of instructional design principles. Effective database, presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software skills.

- Conduct needs assessments to provide customized training or individual guidance.
- Create and edit new LMS learning activities and set up training assignments.
- Develop dynamic instructional and training materials using current technologies.
- Develop and test course content, training games, and graphic designs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of courses and learning products.
- Select the most effective instructional approach, including blended learning techniques.
- Train internal team members on the effective use of classroom materials.
- Validate and integrate feedback, assessments, and course evaluations into training content.
- Conduct presentations for various groups, including leadership.
