Job Description:

Food/Beverage - QA Technician [3rd shift]

Job Location: San Leandro, CA 94577 (100% Onsite)

Target Start Date: April 2026

Pay Rate: $25 - $30/hr

Contract length: 6 months, good potential for extension

3rd Shift: 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM | Mon – Fri | 40 hours per week

Role Summary:

This role supports Quality Assurance, R&D, and Operations in a beverage production facility. It blends production‑floor QA, sensory testing, analytical testing, documentation, and audit preparation. Ideal for early‑career Food Science candidates who want hands‑on manufacturing experience and exposure to SQF and food safety systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with manufacturing as true partners; heavy floor presence.
  • Perform line checks , observe processes, and ensure compliance with GMPs.
  • Conduct water activity testing , color perimeter testing , and sensory evaluations (syrups, dairy‑based sauces).
  • Perform analytical testing: pH, Brix, viscosity .
  • Support positive release of products.
  • Assist with SQF / Food Safety audit preparation .
  • General lab and office organization .
  • Use internal system Red Zone (not a lab‑heavy role; more production‑floor QA).

  • Comfortable in lab, office, and production environments

Technical Must‑Haves

  • Understanding of GMPs & SOPs
  • Experience or coursework in Food Science (3 upper‑division classes)
  • Experience performing analytical tests (pH, Brix, viscosity)
  • Strong sensory evaluation skills; good palate is a plus. (taste, smell, look, feel, etc.)
  • Accurate documentation, data entry and recordkeeping
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook (PowerPoint a plus)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
