(Procurement, Accounts Payable, ERP / Workday Environment)

Onsite in Charlottesville, 5-day a week

Contract (6–12 months) with strong potential for extension and long-term growth

Conversion Target Rate: 60-70K

Role Overview

Contract Specialist to support contracting, procurement, and accounts payable operations within a complex, evolving enterprise environment. This role will play a key part in stabilizing processes during an ongoing ERP transition, including integration with Workday across academic and healthcare entities.

The ideal candidate brings a strong operational mindset, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with procurement, buying, and/or accounts payable. While the role is well-suited for someone earlier in their contracting career, it requires enough maturity and experience to come in running, navigate ambiguity, and identify both gaps and opportunities in existing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the full contract lifecycle, including initiation, mid-cycle management, and closeout
  • Perform administrative and operational tasks within internal contracting and ERP systems
  • Assist with procurement, buying, and accounts payable workflows, including invoice tracking and issue resolution
  • Help restore and maintain line-of-sight between contracts, pricing, POs, and invoices
  • Support contract redlining and agreement reviews in partnership with Legal and Contracting teams
  • Ensure adherence to audit requirements, policies, and internal controls
  • Analyze data using Excel and internal analytics tools to support reporting and decision-making
  • Participate in RFP automation and analysis, with potential exposure to tools such as Swiftbid
  • Partner with stakeholders across academic, hospital, and research environments during system transition
  • Identify what processes are working, what is broken, and recommend practical improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (required for future progression into Contract Negotiator roles)
  • Experience or foundational knowledge in procurement, buying, contracting, or accounts payable
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and improve defined processes
  • Analytical mindset with comfort reviewing data, contracts, and financial documentation
  • Proficiency in Excel; comfort learning new systems and tools
  • Ability to work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and manage ambiguity
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Workday or another ERP system (Workday is a plus, not required)
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or system transitions
  • Background in federal government or federal contracting, particularly procurement or AP
  • Experience in healthcare, academic, or highly regulated environments
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools or automation in contracting or procurement workflows
