Mechanical Engineer III
Type: 12-month contract to start
Location: Houston, Texas
Schedule: Onsite 4 days and 1 day remote per week
Role Overview
This position supports Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects, focusing on process equipment procurement, technical evaluations, and field execution. The role involves planning, design, and ensuring the quality of installation for mechanical systems and equipment, operating under the direction of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience: 5-10 years of Mechanical Engineering experience on projects in the refining, petrochemical, chemical, or power generation industries.
Technical Skills:
This position requires communication in person, via telephone, email, and other software systems. The role will include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities, which requires mobility on the ground and at heights. Work will occur in multiple environments, including office settings and construction sites where noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required on-site.

- Prepare specifications for packaged systems and equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, and exchangers.
- Develop and issue equipment inquiry and Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages.
- Perform technical bid evaluations for equipment and prepare formal recommendations.
- Manage vendor communication and review vendor documents for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Develop job notes and create technical scopes of work.
- Conduct field walk-downs to gather necessary information for work completion.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

- Experience with equipment specification and the practical application of engineering science and technology.

- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with Combined Cycle Power Plants.
