Title: Support Engineer 5

Duration: ~3 months

Location: 100% Remote

Pay Rate Range: $47–$52

  • Proficiency with accessibility automation tools, including scan configuration and results analysis (e.g., axe, Accessibility Insights, Siteimprove, Deque).
  • Experience logging and managing accessibility findings in a structured work‑tracking system (e.g., Azure DevOps or equivalent), including test reporting and remediation validation.

Required Certification: IAAP CPACC, IAAP WAS, or equivalent formal accessibility certification.

Typical Day in the Role

Purpose of the Team

This team supports and strengthens the security, compliance, and accessibility posture of cloud‑based services and digital tools across the organization.

Key Projects

This role contributes to accessibility efforts across multiple business groups and applications, focusing on assessments of a broad range of digital properties.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Review automated accessibility scan results and identify high‑risk findings
  • Troubleshoot scan failures, false positives, and configuration issues
  • Perform manual WCAG-based accessibility testing (keyboard, screen reader, contrast, ARIA)
  • Document findings with clear reproduction steps, severity ratings, and recommendations
  • Meet with engineering teams to explain issues and provide remediation guidance
  • Validate fixes and perform retesting of remediated components
  • Ensure automated scans are configured correctly and run on schedule
  • Log findings into the designated work‑tracking system
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all sites and applications in scope
  • Track accessibility compliance, update dashboards, and prepare status reports
  • Assist teams with required accessibility scans and tooling
  • Monitor adherence to WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in accessibility workflows

Ideal Candidate Profile

A strong candidate is experienced with manual and automated accessibility testing tools, comfortable triaging issues, and adept at explaining accessibility concepts to engineering teams. They communicate clearly, stay organized, and work independently across multiple teams and projects.

Candidate Requirements

  • Longer job tenures (6 months)
  • Required accessibility certification
  • Strong communication skills and/or ability to clearly articulate findings
  • Ability to self‑manage or work across multiple teams
  • Experience with accessibility tooling or WCAG conformance testing

Best vs. Average Candidates

The strongest candidates will have:

  • 6 years of experience in accessibility testing
  • Required certification (IAAP CPACC, WAS, or equivalent)
  • Expertise beyond basic testing—able to troubleshoot scan issues, correlate results across tools, and assist in unblocking teams

This role will perform hands-on accessibility assessments, manage automated scanning processes, and ensure digital experiences meet accessibility standards. Key responsibilities include:
