Overview
We are seeking a Data Governance & Controls Analyst to support data movement, data quality, and control monitoring across enterprise systems. This role focuses on ensuring that data is transferred accurately, completely, and on time between upstream and downstream systems, in alignment with defined SLAs and governance requirements.
This is not a hands‑on engineering role . Success in this position requires strong understanding of how data moves between systems, excellent attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work closely with both business and technical stakeholders to ensure controls are followed and documented.

Key Responsibilities
Data Movement & Quality Oversight
- Monitor data transport metrics , including outbound file movement and transport controls.
- Review and validate data quality checks for inbound and outbound data (accuracy, completeness, timeliness).
- Ensure data arrives according to agreed SLAs (e.g., tracking late or missed data deliveries and their downstream reporting impact).
- Identify data gaps and support backfill efforts to maintain complete and accurate reporting.
- Support Process Risk & Control (PRC) activities related to data movement and system‑of‑record processes.
- Execute and document existing data governance and control frameworks (framework already established).
- Maintain control evidence and artefacts—primarily in Microsoft Excel—for audits and governance reviews.
- Interpret detailed control metrics and validation results produced by technical SMEs and automated processes.
- Ensure documentation clearly explains:
- Data sources and destinations
- Timing expectations
- Validation checks
- Exception handling processes
- Act as a bridge between business partners and technical teams , ensuring mutual understanding.
- Partner with domain stakeholders to explain data issues, control requirements, and remediation steps in clear, non‑technical terms.
- Hold stakeholders accountable to agreed processes and timelines while maintaining a solution‑oriented, customer‑service mindset.
- Support quick turnaround requests and follow established lifecycle and process standards.
- Follow defined end‑to‑end control and data governance processes with high attention to detail.
- Coordinate with trained contractors performing execution tasks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data quality monitoring and reporting practices.
- Strong understanding of data movement, data flows, and batch processing concepts .
- Proven experience with data quality, data governance, or operational controls .
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (required): control tracking, evidence management, metrics, and documentation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain data validation results and transport metrics.
- Experience working within structured processes and control frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong stakeholder management abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple moving parts in parallel.
- Background in Business Analysis, Project Management, Data Operations, Application Support, or Data Governance .
- Understanding of ETL concepts and how data moves from system A to system B.
- Familiarity with data validation techniques used to create control metrics.
- Experience supporting audit, risk, or compliance‑driven initiatives.
- Working knowledge of tools such as SQL, Python, AI prompting, or Microsoft Copilot for data validation and efficiency (not required).
- Technical background is a plus , but not mandatory.
- Not a data architect role.
- Not responsible for building ETL pipelines or designing data models.
- Not responsible for creating the control framework (framework already exists).
- Detail‑oriented and process‑driven.
- Comfortable navigating complex environments with many dependencies.
- Able to ask the right questions when data does not look right.
- Strong relationship manager who can hold others accountable with professionalism.
- Thrives in a role that blends data understanding, controls, documentation, and stakeholder interaction .
