We are hiring a Data Center Technician / Network Administrator Operator!
Role: Data Center Technician / Network Administrator Operator
Supporting: Large Financial Services Client
Location: Ashburn, VA (Onsite – Data Center Environment)
Assignment Type: Contract Only
Duration: ~7 Months
Role Overview:
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity to support a mission-critical data center environment. You’ll be working directly with enterprise infrastructure, supporting installations, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operations to ensure continuous system performance and uptime.
If you’re someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working with hardware, and being in the center of operations, this role offers strong exposure to real-world data center environments and the chance to grow your technical skillset.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rack & stack, cabling, and hardware installations
- Support server and network equipment maintenance (HDD, memory, CPU, NICs, etc.)
- Execute break/fix, move/add/change (MAC) activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and connectivity issues
- Support data center staging, deployments, and asset management
- Install, test, and terminate fiber and copper cabling (including Cat6)
- Maintain rack elevations and documentation within DCIM tools (Nlyte)
- Monitor systems and escalate incidents as needed
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors during outages or performance issues
- Provide updates and status reporting on active and resolved issues
- Ensure adherence to data center safety standards
- Assist with preventative maintenance of network and data center equipment
- Experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking fundamentals
- Familiarity with server hardware and data center operations
- Experience with structured cabling (fiber and copper), testing, and connectors
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment if needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- 5 years of data center experience
- Experience with Cisco networking equipment
- Familiarity with PDUs, power distribution, and load management
- Knowledge of electrical standards, airflow, and cooling in data centers
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience
