Position: Configuration Manager

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Could be remote)

Duration : 6-month Contract

Rate Range: $45-55/hr

Position Overview

We are hiring for a Configuration Manager to support a long-standing defense-related program. This role is critical in guiding and controlling configurations and baselines, ensuring complete traceability of changes through a documented change management process. The Configuration Manager will work closely with engineering, production, and sustainment teams to establish and maintain configuration management processes for both hardware and software systems, including COTS software license management.

Day To Day Responsibilities / Typical Day Look Like

• Develop and execute CM processes, policies, and procedures for hardware and software systems
• Identify configuration items and ensure accurate baseline documentation
• Manage changes from initiation to implementation, including leading Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings
• Maintain complete and accurate configuration status accounting and generate reports as needed
• Conduct configuration audits to verify accuracy of records
• Provide CM training to program teams
• Communicate CM status to functional and program management

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience in configuration management or related fields
• Strong understanding of CM policies and processes for technical baselines and documentation
• Familiarity with software license management
• Ability to manage change control processes and maintain configuration integrity
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Strong analytical skills and experience with CM audits
• Knowledge of CM standards and frameworks (EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, ISO, ITIL, CMMI)
• Proficiency in CM tools for hardware, systems, and software
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

• Experience improving change management processes
• Familiarity with PCA, FCA, and process audits
• Knowledge of database management in CM contexts
• Certification in CM from NDIA or CMII
• Experience with government clients (Army, Navy, USMC, USAF)
• Experience with Windchill, Aras Innovator, and SharePoint
