Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Engineer Level 2

Location: Suffolk, Virginia (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract to Perm

Role Overview

We are seeking a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Engineer Level 2 to support a joint training DevSecOps pipeline core infrastructure and data center. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Deputy Directorate, Joint Training (DDJT) and will contribute to the design and modeling of various products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and model products using 2D drawings and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA.
  • Create assemblies to demonstrate how components fit together.
  • Generate technical documentation with dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications for manufacturing.
  • Simulate and analyze designs for performance, stress, and manufacturability using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet specifications and production requirements.
  • Optimize designs for cost, efficiency, and quality, reducing the need for physical prototypes.

Required Qualifications

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or five years of related experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (MCAD for mechanical design, ECAD for electronics).
  • Understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of CAE simulation tools for stress, thermal, and fluid analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASME).
  • Strong problem-solving and visualization abilities.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated compensation for this position is a salary range of $90,000 to $100,000 annually. This position is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
