Application Security Architect

Apex Systems is currently hiring for an Application Security Architect with a reputable financial services client.

We’re looking for an Application Security Architect with a strong development and systems engineering background who has transitioned into security. This role focuses on building and automating threat models for large-scale enterprise systems, leveraging Python, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and GenAI tools to embed security into pipelines and microservices. Ideal candidates can deconstruct complex architectures, integrate APIs, and rapidly pivot to secure emerging technologies.

Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:

Background: Former developer who transitioned into cybersecurity or architecture, with strong systems engineering fundamentals.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in scripting and data manipulation (Python required; ability to read Java and C# preferred).
• Experience automating processes using GenAI for code risk scanning and security analysis.
• Ability to build and integrate APIs, embed security logic into pipelines, and automate AppSec workflows.

Enterprise Systems Knowledge:

• Deep understanding of building and securing large-scale enterprise systems (2M endpoints).
• Familiarity with middleware technologies (e.g., WebLogic, Tomcat, WebSphere, MQ).

Threat Modeling:

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Threat Modeler, Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool, or OWASP Threat Dragon.
• Knowledge of methodologies like STRIDE, PASTA, or similar.

Cloud Expertise:

• Engineering experience with AWS, Azure or GCP

GenAI Readiness:

• Practical experience leveraging GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT or similar) for real-world optimization or automation tasks.
• Ability to pivot rapidly and adapt to evolving organizational needs.

Locations: Charlotte, NC | Iselin, NJ | Irving, TX

Onsite expectation: HYBRID – 3 days onsite weekly/ 2 days remote

Pay range: $60-$64/hr W2
