Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
POSITION PURPOSE: The Pickleball Instructor is responsible for planning, instructing, and facilitating safe, engaging, and skill-appropriate pickleball programs for participants of varying ages and abilities. This position supports the District’s mission by promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and community engagement through quality instruction and positive participant experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct pickleball classes, clinics, lessons, and/or leagues for beginners through advanced players.
- Demonstrate proper pickleball techniques, rules, strategies, and safety practices.
- Develop and follow lesson plans appropriate to participant skill levels and program objectives.
- Set up and break down courts, nets, and equipment before and after each session.
- Monitor participant safety and enforce facility and program rules at all times.
- Provide positive feedback, encouragement, and instruction to support participant growth and enjoyment.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians (when applicable), and staff.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and report incidents, injuries, or concerns to the supervisor.
- Represent the District in a professional, friendly, and customer-service-oriented manner

- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Previous pickleball instruction or playing experience required.
- CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon employment.
- Knowledge of pickleball rules, scoring, techniques, and basic strategies.
- Understanding of safe instructional practices for group recreation programs.
- Strong verbal communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate pickleball techniques.
- Customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work with participants of diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
- Ability to manage groups and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and District policies.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience
No specific education requirements; all experience levels welcome. Certification a plus.
Work Environment
Physical Activities:
- Stand and move for extended periods of time.
- Bend, reach, stoop, and demonstrate athletic movements.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull equipment up to approximately 30 lbs.
Work Environment:
Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, snow, and humidity.
