Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled SQL Server / Azure SQL DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize database systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on ensuring database performance, availability, security, and reliability while supporting business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases and Azure SQL environments
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations
- Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning
- Ensure high availability using replication, clustering, or Azure HA features
- Implement and maintain database security (roles, permissions, encryption)
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysis
- Perform database patching, upgrades, and migrations (on-prem to Azure)
- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL)
- Work with development teams to design efficient database structures
- Monitor and manage Azure resources, costs, and performance
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 3–6 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance
- Proficiency in T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, functions)
- Experience with backup/recovery models and HA/DR solutions
- Understanding of performance tuning and query optimization
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and DMVs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Knowledge of ETL processes and tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)
- Experience with database migrations and modernization projects
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
