1.0 JOB DESCRIPTION
The Safety Coordinator will train employees on safety protocols and enforce them if they’re not being followed properly for the facility and work collaboratively with the other US sites to drive effective HS&E culture and compliance to ensure consistency with procedures and processes as applicable and compliance to all regulations. This is a hands-on position which will be based in Frankfort, NY and will have primary responsibility for the Frankfort location.
2.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Planning health and safety program and protocols
- Teaching supervisors, managers, and other leaders in the company about health and safety standards
- Presenting safety training sessions to the company
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA
- Ensure the site is fully compliant with all state and federal environmental regulations, and own execution of all compliance related activities.
- Implement site-specific programs, policies, and procedures as well as assisting the development and implementation of required training programs.
- Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
- Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
- Track safety actions and safety work orders to ensure timely completion.
- Analyzing health and safety data
- Drive improvement using behavior-based observation systems and culture.
3.0 COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 3 years in Manufacturing and Safety.
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations.
- Familiarity with the tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace.
- Prior experience in implementing environmental, safety programs and effective training curriculum.
- Proficient in all aspects of safety and industrial hygiene.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including the plant floor, as well as customers and outside professionals.
- Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation and English language communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal, state and local occupational environmental, health and safety laws and regulations as they apply to industrial organizations.
4.0 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
None.
5.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a hands-on position and will work both in an office and factory setting. Factory requires use of PPE (Safety Glasses/Safety Shoes/earplugs) and environmental conditions vary. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration as it is necessary to walk the shop floor.
6.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Lift up to 50 pounds. Use of proper PPE is required including hearing protection
7.0 POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs. The facility is staffed on a two-shift basis and the employee is expected to interact with all shifts regularly.
8.0 TRAVEL
Infrequently, however, employees may need to travel occasionally to other facilities.
