Job Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor oversees day-to-day quality operations to ensure all products meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this role helps champion the Quality Management System (QMS) by upholding safety and quality as the organization’s highest priorities, followed by production objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Standards Enforcement: Implement and maintain corporate quality standards across the manufacturing facility.
  • ISO Compliance: Serve as the alternate Management Representative for ISO 9001.
  • Document Control: Manage the document control system, including authoring, revising, and implementing quality policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Training Management: Maintain comprehensive training documentation across all departments and track employee training compliance for new or revised procedures.
  • Production Support: Provide technical guidance and quality oversight to production supervisors on the shop floor.
  • Change Management: Assist in administering the facility's process change management program.
  • Audit Management: Plan, schedule, and execute internal quality audits, corrective actions, and system effectiveness reviews.
  • External Audit Support: Support on-site audits conducted by customers, regulatory bodies, or registrar certifying organizations.
  • Corrective Actions: Evaluate audit findings, non-conformances, and customer complaints to implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Testing Oversight: Monitor quality testing protocols, analyze data, and identify performance gaps.
  • Supplier Quality: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to monitor, evaluate, and improve supplier quality performance.
  • FOD Program: Oversee and enforce the site’s Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention program.
  • Material Disposition: Monitor non-conforming materials through the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Customer Interface: Act as a technical liaison for customers regarding quality inquiries and complaint resolutions with guidance from the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Specification Review: Perform technical reviews of procurement and purchase specifications as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Equipment Calibration: Monitor calibration schedules for all inspection, measuring, and test equipment, coordinating external service or repair when necessary.
  • Professional Development: Actively pursue continuous improvement through industry seminars, training, best-practice sharing, and sister-facility visits.
  • General Support: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of progressive quality assurance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven supervisory experience with the demonstrated ability to direct, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Methodologies: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Auditing: Formal training or certification in internal auditing; hands-on experience hosting customer and regulatory audits.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Problem Solving: Data-driven decision-making skills with an acute attention to detail.
  • Software: Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and related productivity platforms.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position supervises employees within the Quality Assurance department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a mixed environment consisting of a professional office and a manufacturing facility. While on the production floor, the employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles, fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to speak, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and use hands for fine tactile manipulation.
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Adherence to all safety and PPE protocols is strictly required.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs.

TRAVEL

Travel is infrequent but occasionally required (up to 10%) to visit customer sites, suppliers, or other corporate locations.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
