Our client, Apella Wealth, is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. They are a rapidly growing firm building a national footprint, looking to expand their finance team with a highly motivated and detail-oriented Director of FP&A or Senior FP&A Analyst, depending on the level of experience of the candidate selected. At either level, the ideal candidate will play a key role in driving financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic insight across the firm. This position goes beyond reporting to serve as a trusted finance partner to leadership, supporting data‑driven decision‑making through robust forecasting models, in‑depth analysis, and forward‑looking insights. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, multi‑office environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Own the design, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of sophisticated budgeting and forecasting models across multiple offices and regions
- Lead quarterly reforecasting processes and support long‑range planning efforts
- Identify key performance drivers, risks, and opportunities, providing clear and actionable recommendations to leadership
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare and deliver standardized executive‑level quarterly and monthly performance reporting packages
- Produce and interpret complex ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives, leadership requests, and business planning
- Track and analyze firmwide and office‑level revenue, collections, and variances, identifying trends and underlying business drivers
Business Partnership & Strategic Insight
- Serve as a finance partner to senior leadership and functional stakeholders, supporting decision‑making related to growth, resource allocation, and profitability
- Collaborate closely with Accounting to ensure alignment between FP&A analysis, financial reporting, and the general ledger
- Actively participate in meetings with the CFO and other senior leaders, contributing insight, context, and recommendations
Cost & Efficiency Analysis
- Lead detailed expense and margin analysis to identify cost optimization opportunities, inefficiencies, and duplicative spend
- Assess business performance across offices, initiatives, and functions to support operational improvements
Process Improvement & Systems
- Leverage technology, automation, and data tools to improve forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and scalability of FP&A processes
- Utilize general ledger and operational data to enhance reporting quality and identify opportunities for improved financial visibility
- Help define best practices for data management, documentation, and compliance
Special Projects
- Support strategic, cross‑functional initiatives, including business case development, scenario analysis, and other ad hoc projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA, CFA, or comparable advanced credentials a plus
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, accounting, or financial services
- Prior experience in wealth management, investment advisory, asset management, or professional services strongly preferred
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
- Expert‑level Excel proficiency; experience with financial systems and planning tools (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Adaptive, Anaplan, Power BI) preferred
- Strong understanding of financial statements, revenue recognition, expense management, and budgeting processes

- Strong communication and presentation skills, with comfort engaging senior leaders and non‑finance stakeholders
