Please note: Regardless of the hours of the position, the selected candidate will have to be available to complete 2 weeks of training, Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, upon hire.

Overview:

 

Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates and provides treatment, rehabilitation and support services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.  Provides crisis intervention. Prepares and maintains client records.

ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  1. Provides substance use disorder services to eligible persons served by the program in the form of direct individual and group therapy.  Be the primary resource for the team in completing substance use assessments of persons served and provide input into treatment planning and service provisions.  Provide multiple-stage individual and group treatment in the office and in community settings to develop a trusting relationship with persons served so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning.  May participate in setting treatment goals and plans with persons served to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors.
  2. Provide direct clinical services to persons served on an individual and/or group basis to teach behavioral symptom-management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced with medication; provide symptom education to enable persons served to identify their mental illness symptoms; and to promote personal growth and development by assisting persons served to adapt to and cope with internal and external stresses.
  3. Attend program staffing and periodic clinical/administrative supervision as scheduled. 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

  • A Master's degree with a major in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field.
  • Three years of related professional experience, with training and experience in assessment and treatment of persons with substance use disorders.
  • Professional experience working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).

Licensure or Certification:

  • Must possess current, valid driver’s license and maintain Apalachee Designated Auto Driver status.
