POSITION: SOR (STATE OPIOID RESPONSE) SPECIALIST FLOATER

CLASSIFICATION CODE: GRANT FUNDED TEMPORARY, ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

DEPARTMENT: PREVENTION

REPORTS TO: PREVENTION PROGRAM MANAGER

STATEMENT OF JOB: This position is funded under the State Opioid Response grant. The SOR Specialist Floater will assist with the Restoration Project and Sweat Lodge activities by providing opioid education, substance use prevention education and assist with park renovations or Sweat Lodge set up and tear down. This position assists with planning, organizing, facilitating and data collection. This position is temporary and has an end date of September 30, 2025.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ability to work outdoors to assist with park clean up and renovation.
2. Ability to assist with Sweat Lodge set up, tear down, and unloading items on campus.
3. Ability to work with computers and various computer software.
4. Provide outreach in the community to educate and assist community members and stakeholders on opioid education.
5. Provides information on services provided.
6. Create flyers, brochures, social media posts that focus on opioid or substance use education.
7. Collaborates with Tribal entities to provide awareness of opioid use.
8. Collect data for all activities executed.
9. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and competence in adjusting to complex situations in a moment’s notice.
10. Ability to address a variety of diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs in multiple environments of an often-high-risk population, using a trauma-informed care approach while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and cultural awareness.
11. Participates in interdepartmental clinical team meetings to assist and encourage consistent and timely provision of services. Participates in weekly departmental meetings to plan time and activities effectively.
12. Participation in all required ABHS trainings.
13. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
14. Maintain ethical policies and guidelines as outlined in accepted State ethics laws, rules, policies and principles and as outlined in discipline-specific code of ethics.
15. Reports/attends work in a timely manner. Must be reliable and communicate directly with supervisor in all matters of attendance.
16. Provide a positive role model to clients and staff through leadership, self-discipline, and genuine care for the treatment and recovery of clients. All clients and staff members must be treated with dignity and respect.
17. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 18 years of age and possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma; experience working with Native Americans preferred.
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to speak the Apache language preferred.
3. Demonstrate strong problem-solving and organizational and time management skills.
4. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors.
5. MS Office proficiency and ability to correctly operate copy machine and fax.
6. Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
7. Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including, but not limited to, fingerprint clearance, drug testing and background check.
