Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven External Sales Representative to support census growth and referral development for our skilled nursing facilities across Northeast Ohio. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong referral relationships with hospitals, healthcare systems, and community partners, while promoting high-quality post-acute and long-term care services.
The ideal candidate brings multi-hospital liaison experience, skilled nursing admissions and marketing expertise, and a proven track record in long-term care sales and marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong referral relationships with acute care hospitals, case managers, social workers, physicians, and healthcare systems
Serve as the primary hospital liaison across multiple hospitals and referral sources
Actively promote skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care services
Collaborate with facility leadership, admissions, and clinical teams to support timely and appropriate admissions
Manage the full sales cycle including lead generation, referral follow-up, admissions support, and conversion
Conduct regular face-to-face sales calls, presentations, and in-service education
Track referral activity, census trends, and performance metrics
Represent the organization professionally within the community and healthcare market
Support marketing initiatives, community outreach, and networking events
Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and referral source needs
Required Experience & Qualifications
Multi-hospital liaison experience (required)
Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience with admissions and marketing (required)
Sales and marketing experience in long-term care or post-acute healthcare
Strong understanding of skilled nursing, rehab services, and long-term care operations
Proven ability to build and sustain referral relationships
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently in the field
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
Established referral relationships within the Northeast Ohio healthcare market
Experience working with discharge planners, case managers, and utilization review teams
Knowledge of Medicare, managed care, and post-acute placement processes
