About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Supervisor to lead the day-to-day accounting function in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, the monthly close process, and daily accounting operations while actively working alongside the team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership without waiting for direction.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accounting Operations
- Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and cash management.
- Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Provide hands-on support to the accounting team by resolving issues, researching accounting questions, and assisting with daily operations as needed.
- Oversee cash management, bank reconciliations, vendor payments, wire transfers, ACH transactions, and other treasury activities.
- Prepare financial reports, analyze results, and provide insights to support business decisions.
- Identify process improvements, solve accounting issues, and drive operational efficiency across the accounting function.
- Support inventory and cost accounting by maintaining accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
Business Partnership
- Work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Production to resolve accounting issues and improve business processes.
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Support special projects and operational initiatives as business priorities evolve.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Set clear expectations, provide guidance, and support the team in resolving complex accounting issues.
- Encourage independent thinking, initiative, and proactive problem solving across the accounting function.
- Balance team workloads and priorities to meet deadlines and support changing business needs.
- Partner with Purchasing, Production, and Operations to improve cost reporting, inventory accuracy, and financial visibility.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Assist with annual audits, tax preparation, and the preparation of supporting financial schedules.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support the continued growth of the accounting function.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA is a plus.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, month-end close, and general accounting.
- Manufacturing or distribution experience preferred; exposure to inventory or cost accounting is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills who can work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
