We are hiring 2-4 experienced door-to-door canvassers to support the relaunch of a solar, roofing, and green home campaign across Cecil County, Harford County, and Northern Baltimore County.
This role is focused on setting high-quality appointments through direct-to-home outreach, with a clear path into closing and higher earnings over time.
ROLE OVERVIEW
- Door-to-door canvassing to generate interest in a solar / energy efficiency audit
- Setting qualified appointments for solar, roofing, HVAC, and energy upgrades
- Working within a structured system focused on quality over volume
- Commission-based with strong upside tied to performance
Primary territory will be:
- Cecil County and Northern Harford County (Pulaski Highway corridor)
- Opportunity to transition into Harford and Northern Baltimore territories after initial training period
WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT
We are launching this campaign with direct involvement from senior sales leadership, not just handing out scripts and sending people into the field.
You will be working directly with:
- A 20-year door-to-door veteran
- 10 years training solar sales teams nationwide
- Focused on behavioral sales, efficiency, and high-level strategy
Initial team (first 2–3 reps) will:
- Work closely with leadership in the field
- Focus on efficiency, approach, and setting quality appointments
- Shadow all appointments and learn how to close
- Develop into full-cycle sales reps over time
Training and development timeline:
- Typically 6 weeks to 6 months, depending on experience and performance
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
- Additional experienced closer available in Northern Baltimore / Harford County
- Ability to run and close appointments in multiple territories as you develop
- Long-term opportunity to stay in canvassing, transition into closing, or move into leadership
SCHEDULE & STRUCTURE
This is a flexible, performance-based role, with expected structure:
- 3–5 hours/day door knocking
- 4–5 days/week in the field
- 6–10 hours/week shadowing appointments
- 4–6 hours/week training (in-person virtual)
COMPENSATION
- Commission-based
- Paid on performance and production
- Strong upside tied to:
- appointments set
- deals closed
- installs completed
- Average commission is $800-$1,700 per installed solar sales (the door knocker gets paid upfront after contract is signed and house passes a physical site inspection of the roof and electrical equipment.
- The expectation is to set 4-8 appointments weekly with 4 high quality appointments that sit with closer and engage with the sales presentation/approach. The training is structured around putting the door knocker in a position to have 2 installed solar accounts weekly with other commissions being paid out on energy audits, the potential for roofing and other home-energy audits.
- Average door knockers that have worked with this senior sales leader generally earn between $140,000 - $180,000.
- Door knocking here is a must and will be ongoing. Even as a closer, the expectation is that the sales rep will be in the field with their canvassers at least 4-8 hours per week helping them in the field, training them and mentoring their growth.
REQUIREMENTS
- Prior door-to-door, canvassing, or direct sales experience required
- You will be door knocking approximately 12-16 hours weekly
- Comfortable working on commission
- Strong communication skills
- Willing to be coached and follow a structured approach
- Able to work in Cecil County during initial training period
- Reliable transportation
