DUTIES: The Commodity Buyer is responsible for the purchase of the best quality equipment, goods, and services for the organization at the most competitive prices. Oversee supply chain management and procurement, possibly on a worldwide scale, giving high priority to local content. Responsible for conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules, and quality. Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed. Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Responsible for negotiating and setting up contracts, monitoring their
progress, checking the quality of service provided, and closing deals with optimal terms. Responsible for keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future. Forecasts price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power. Identify potential suppliers. Visit existing suppliers and new ones. Build and maintain good relationships with suppliers. Evaluate bids and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors. Determine quantity and timing of deliveries. Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives. Attend internal and external meetings. Complete other job-related tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree or (foreign academic equivalent) in Purchasing, Business Administration, Finance, Business Marketing or related field and six (6) months of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include: Experience with INCOTERMS 2020 conditions; and experience with Microsoft Excel dynamic tables and SAP ERP.
OTHER: This position requires domestic travel, as needed, up to 5%. This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address.
