POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of the Admission Counselor is to establish and manage relationships

with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and community organizations in

order to recruit, admit, and enroll students who will be successful at Antioch College. This

independent position involves territory management, domestic travel, and the strategic execution

of recruitment plans designed to achieve enrollment goals. The Admission Counselor collaborates

with colleagues across campus to provide exceptional service and guide students through every

stage of the enrollment funnel, from inquiry through matriculation.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Attend college fairs/programs and schedule and conduct visits to high schools within an

assigned territory.

• Develop and execute a strategic territory recruitment plan designed to achieve

application, admission, deposit, and enrollment goals.

• Conduct proactive outreach through phone calls, text messages, email, virtual

appointments, and in-person meetings.

• Maintain consistent communication with prospective students and families throughout

the admission cycle.

• Identify and remove barriers to enrollment while guiding students through each stage of

the enrollment funnel.

• Respond promptly to inquiries from prospective students, parents, counselors, and

community partners.

• Maintain a high level of outbound recruitment activity each week.

• Enter and maintain complete, accurate, and timely records in the College's CRM.

• Monitor recruitment pipeline reports and prioritize outreach activities using enrollment

data.

• Read, interpret, and evaluate academic credentials and make admission

recommendations.

• Schedule interviews, campus visits, faculty meetings, overnight visits, and transportation

as appropriate.

• Collaborate with Financial Aid, Student Success, Academic Affairs, and other campus

partners to assist students in completing enrollment requirements.

• Participate in recruitment campaigns, calling initiatives, admitted student events, and

yield activities.

• Join and participate in regional admission and school counselor associations.

• Schedules appointments for prospective students with faculty, staff, and admission

representatives for interviews, campus tours, class visits, overnight visits, and airport

transportation

• Read, interpret, and evaluate students’ academic credentials and make admission/denial

recommendations

• Receive incoming calls and follow-up to messages and inquiries accordingly

• Compose memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents

• Supervise and mentor student workers who contribute to the efforts in this area of the

College, including but not limited to: providing guidance, tracking hours and approving

timesheets. Student engagement in our work program is integral to their educational

experience. Supervisors serve as primary educational role models who provide learning

opportunities for students to build workplace skills that are developmentally appropriate

and transferable to professional realms beyond the College.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

• Meet or exceed recruitment, application, deposit, and enrollment goals established by the

Dean of Admission.

• Maintain consistent outbound communication with prospective students through phone,

text, email, and virtual appointments.

• Demonstrate urgency in responding to new inquiries and applicant communications.

• Effectively move students through each stage of the enrollment funnel.

• Maintain accurate CRM documentation of student interactions by the end of each

business day.

• Utilize CRM reports and enrollment data to prioritize daily work.

• Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and campus partners.

• Meet established departmental standards for productivity, responsiveness,

professionalism, and follow-through.

• Contribute positively to departmental enrollment goals through collaboration and

accountability.


QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Demonstrated ability to meet measurable performance goals and manage a recruitment

pipeline.

• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to analyze recruitment data and use CRM reports to inform daily activities.

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as needed.

• Commitment to the ideals of a selective, independent, residential liberal arts curriculum.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM software preferred.

• Experience coordinating events preferred.

• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Superior written and oral communication skills.

• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and exercise sound

judgment.

• ABILITY TO ORGANIZE AND PLAN: Identify goals, establish timelines, and achieve

measurable outcomes.

• ABILITY TO WORK AS A MEMBER OF A TEAM

• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures, percentages, and related data.


REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to set up recruiting displays.

• Ability to regularly utilize office equipment.

• Ability to speak clearly in person and by telephone.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Obtain have a valid Ohio Driver's License.

• Must have reliable transportation to fulfill travel requirements associated with

recruitment activities and territory management.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:

• Position works extensively in office environments with regular travel and movement throughout campus and recruitment locations in varying weather conditions.
