Position Summary:
The Marine Terminal Supervisor oversees daily operations at the marine terminal, ensuring the efficient, safe, and timely loading, unloading, and handling of cargo for container ships. This role requires coordination of labor, equipment, and scheduling to support marine and terminal logistics while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Bilingual English and Spanish.Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise terminal operations, primarily loading and unloading container vessels, and other yard activities.
- Coordinate with the company shipping line and communicate with various teams to ensure timely cargo movement.
- Monitor and enforce safety procedures in compliance with OSHA, USCG, and company policies.
- Schedule labor and equipment usage to meet operational demands.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and terminal areas to ensure proper maintenance and readiness.
- Address and resolve operational issues and delays, communicating updates to management and stakeholders.
- Prepare shift reports and maintain accurate records of operations, incidents, and productivity metrics.
- Support emergency response plans and environmental protection protocols.
- Train and mentor terminal personnel, promoting continuous improvement and safety culture.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in logistics, maritime, or related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in marine terminal operations, with 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of port operations, cargo handling methods, and maritime logistics.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish is required.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard, CBP).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, and logistics software.
Working Conditions:
- Majority of time spent in a marine terminal environment (outdoor/indoor).
