A General Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of hands-on maintenance and repair tasks to keep facilities, grounds, and equipment clean, safe, and in good working condition. This role supports day-to-day operations by handling basic repairs, painting, patching, cleaning, and general upkeep tasks. (Bilingual English and Spanish) Pay is $17 to $19
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform basic repairs such as fixing loose fixtures, replacing damaged materials, and assisting with minor plumbing or electrical tasks.
- Patch holes or cracks in walls and prepare surfaces for painting.
- Assist with carpentry or renovation projects as needed.
- Painting & Surface Prep:
- Sand, prime, and paint interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized painting area and properly store supplies.
- Cleaning & Groundskeeping:
- Sweep floors, walkways, and work areas to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Pressure wash surfaces including sidewalks, walls, and exterior building areas.
- Remove trash and debris from work areas and grounds.
- Facility Support:
- Set up or move furniture, equipment, and materials as directed.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisors promptly.
- Assist other departments or tradespeople as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in general labor, maintenance, or janitorial work is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Physical stamina to lift, bend, climb, and work in outdoor or indoor environments.
Working Conditions:
- Physically demanding work requiring lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- May involve exposure to cleaning agents, paint fumes, and construction noise.
- Typical hours are daytime shifts, with possible weekend or evening work depending on the needs of the facility.
