The Equipment Repair Supervisor oversees all maintenance and repair activities for containers, chassis, and yard equipment. This includes managing repair staff, ensuring safety compliance, monitoring work quality, and coordinating with operations to minimize equipment downtime. The role ensures operational readiness and compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company standards. Bi-lingual English and Spanish
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of repair technicians and welders.
- Assign work orders and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Prioritize repairs to support yard productivity and fleet availability.
- Oversee inspections of incoming/outgoing containers and chassis for damage.
- Ensure repairs meet industry standards (IICL, FMCSA, OSHA).
- Conduct final inspections on completed repairs for quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other safety regulations.
- Submit required reports for inspections, repairs, and inventory use.
- Provide hands-on training and coaching to repair staff.
- Enforce PPE and safety practices in shop and yard environments.
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talk.
- Work with M*R Director to coordinate operational needs.
- Communicate with vendors or third-party inspectors as needed.
- Liaise with dispatch and operations to schedule chassis/container availability.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 years of experience in chassis, container, or heavy-duty equipment maintenance.
- 3-4 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Working knowledge of DOT and IICL standards.
- Familiarity with welding, brake systems, electrical systems, and container structural repair.
