Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced VP, Finance to lead the financial management of our fast-growing, school-based therapy and special services business. This critical leadership role combines hands-on financial management with strategic vision to drive scalable growth (both organic and via M&A) and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, be a dynamic self-starter and a player-coach – primarily responsible for many functions with the support of one staff (may expand over time).
As VP, Finance, you will oversee all financial processes, including financial planning and analysis, accounts receivable/accounts payable, treasury, payroll, benefits, tax, and compliance. You will also serve as a strategic partner to the Founder and CEO, executive team, board, and play a central role in shaping company’s financial future by driving budgeting, forecasting, KPIs, and long-term planning and playing a key role in underwriting and executing future M&A activity. This is a unique opportunity for a finance leader to make a meaningful impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Partner with the Founder and CEO, executive team, and board/private equity sponsor to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy.
- Design and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls to support rapid expansion.
- Advise on capital structure, capital raising efforts, and M&A activity to support growth initiatives.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the CEO and Board of Directors
Financial Operations:
- With the support of a staff member, manage day-to-day financial functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), treasury, and payroll/benefits administration.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly close processes, reconciliations, and internal audits.
- Develop automated financial reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into revenue, gross profit, and key performance and operational metrics for sales and leadership, while collaborating with HR to monitor and optimize adherence to minimum-hours benchmarks to support profitability and growth.
- Design processes and procedures to facilitate achieving target close within five (5) business days.
- Oversee tax filings, compliance requirements, and insurance coverage to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Budgeting, Planning, and Analysis:
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with company objectives and financial goals.
- Create and maintain financial models to support annual financial plan, rolling forecasts, cash management/investment, and long-range planning.
- Provide actionable insights via financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Monitor (KPIs) to guide decision-making and achieve growth targets.
- Establish business dashboards, pricing guidelines, and other enablement tools to support daily execution.
Team Development:
- Act as a hands-on leader, taking ownership of all financial tasks in the early stages, managing one existing employee.
- Over time, recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing finance team as the organization scales.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA Required
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance roles, including leadership positions within high-growth staffing & consulting, healthcare, professional services, or education companies. Transaction advisory or other exposure to M&A greatly desired.
- Proven record of managing end-to-end financial operations and driving financial strategy in dynamic environments.
- Experience working with investment committees and boards strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of industry metrics (e.g., bill-pay spread, utilization, staffing ratios, etc.) and revenue and cost models.
- Expertise in financial systems and tools (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, BambooHR reporting, or similar platforms).
- Expert-level capabilities in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on operational responsibilities.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong data skills (e.g. data standardization, PowerBI or similar dashboarding, etc.)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present complex financial data clearly.

Salary : $175,000 - $215,000
