Network Engineer

The Answers in Genesis Technology department is currently seeking a Network Engineer to provide support, network analysis, configuration, documentation, monitoring, and troubleshooting as well as wireless network support including design, configuration, documentation, monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN and Wi-Fi infrastructures of a multi-location WAN. This position will be responsible for implementing and optimizing network services, functions, and connectivity. This position requires superb technical skills displayed in initiative, resourcefulness, and persistence in problem solving & process optimization. Responsibilities

• Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.

• Design and engineer enterprise networking, both onsite and cloud-managed services.
• Research, install, troubleshoot, support, and optimize network hardware and software such as HP, Juniper, Extreme, and Cisco switches, FortiGate firewalls/routers, VLANs, etc.
• Collaborating with Audio/Video Technology Managers & Engineers in the design, planning and implementation of enterprise-level changes and additions
• Collaborate with vendors for construction projects as it relates to Technology networking needs. This includes pathways, wiring closet locations, wiring standards.
• Collaborate with other departments on wiring needs.
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Manage network using LAN/WAN monitoring tools.
• Develop and implement written solutions to remediate problems and increase efficiency.
• Documentation of network diagrams, implementation procedures, Change Control documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
• Research emerging technological tolls for possible use in ministry.
• Design, install, configure, troubleshoot, support and optimize wireless network hardware and software such as Aruba switches, Extreme Networks access points, Fortinet routers, VLANs, etc.
• Collaborate with Technology managers & other IT engineers in the planning and implementation of enterprise level technological changes and additions.
• Manage Wi-Fi and LAN networks using LAN/WAN monitoring tools.
• Technical analysis of performance and availability of network. Develop and implement written solutions to remediate problems and increase efficiency.
• Documentation of network diagrams, implementation procedures, Change Control documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
• Research emerging technological tools for possible use in ministry.
• Collaborate with outsourced and co-sourced enterprise-level IT projects.
• Continually evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of positions current responsibility set and improve where necessary.
• Provide level 3 support to IT Help Desk.
• And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education & Experience

• Minimum of three years of network support experience. Knowledge of audio networking and signal processing is a strong plus.
• Firm understanding of internetworking topology, infrastructure, hardware and configuration for a segmented, muti-platform enterprise environment.
• Experience in design, analysis, configuration, administration, documentation, and troubleshooting of networks using protocol analyzers, packet sniffers, etc.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, principles and practices including segmentation, VLANs, TCP/IP, subnetting, PTP, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of multicast, Unicast, and Broadcast transmission over TCP/IT
• Ability to administer a segmented, multi-platform enterprise environment using a firm understanding of internetworking topology, infrastructure, hardware, and configuration.
• Experience in the design and configuration of routing protocols.
• Knowledge of Dante protocols and AES67, QSYS and Q-Lan protocol suite, A/V routing, PTP settings, and configuration options a plus.
• Working knowledge of ETC Paradigm and Mosaic systems a plus
• Familiarity with process-driven workflow methodologies such as ITIL and GTD a plus.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines.
• Network , CCNA, Dante Level 3 Certification or other networking certification a plus.
