The Anselmo Academy of Music and the Arts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to quality arts education, is seeking an experienced and dependable Musical Theater & Voice Instructor to lead a dynamic high school class in Manhattan.
This role is ideal for an educator who brings strong vocal and musical theater skills, excellent classroom presence, and a genuinely upbeat, encouraging personality.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:40–1:30 PM
- Location: Manhattan (East 33rd Street area)
- Class: Approximately 20 high school students
- Course Focus: Musical theater and Voice
- Compensation: $50/hour for all teaching
- Opportunity for additional private and group teaching assignments across our programs
Responsibilities
- Lead daily musical theater/voice classes, incorporating technique, repertoire, ensemble skills, and performance readiness.
- Create structured, engaging lessons that support students of varied abilities and backgrounds.
- Maintain excellent classroom management while fostering a supportive, energetic environment.
- Collaborate with program leadership as needed to support student progress and overall class success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Musical Theater, Vocal Performance, or related field (required); degree in music education preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience (required)
- Strong vocal pedagogy and/or musical theater background
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and connect with high school–aged students
- Must be highly reliable, consistent, and committed through the full school year
- Positive, enthusiastic personality with strong communication and classroom management skills.
