Position Overview
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health services to patients across the lifespan in a variety of care settings. This role includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing and managing medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
The patient population includes individuals residing in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, independent living communities, inpatient settings, and private homes.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, clinically skilled, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively while managing a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions in outpatient, inpatient, telehealth, and long-term care environments.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and mental health evaluations
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD, and substance use disorders
- Develop individualized treatment and medication management plans
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Provide supportive therapy, counseling, and behavioral interventions as appropriate
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, therapists, social workers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and coping strategies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance activities
- Respond to psychiatric crises and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary
- Participate in quality improvement and compliance initiatives
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and organizational policies
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) from an accredited program
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority
- Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric/behavioral health experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology
- Experience in inpatient, skilled nursing/long-term care, outpatient, or telepsychiatry settings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience with telepsychiatry platforms preferred
- Knowledge of behavioral health documentation and compliance standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills

Salary : $125,000 - $200,000
