This is advanced technical work in programming a general purpose electronic computer.

NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK

Work involves responsibility for developing routines and programming a variety of difficult and complex mathematical and statistical problems on an electronic data processing computer. Work includes evaluating and modifying existing programs to take care of changing demands; analyzing new programs, using symbols to outline the steps in processing the program, and translating logical analysis into computer instructions. Work may entail providing guidance and direction to lower level programmers. Work is performed with considerable independence within technical guidelines and procedures, and is reviewed by technical superiors through conferences and by review of results obtained

  • Designs, documents, and writes new or revised programs; participates in long- and short-term studies of new and existing applications; performs routine systems analysis and identifies and resolves problems associated with computer applications.
  • Confers with supervisors and departmental representatives concerned with the program, to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, extent of automatic programming and coding and their modification, and internal checks and controls.
  • Corrects program errors by such methods as altering program steps and sequence; prepares written instructions to guide operating personnel during production runs; analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt them to new requirements; compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions.
  • Coordinates with control clerks and computer operators; creates test data; tests new and revised programs; debugs programs.
  • Keeps abreast of programming field; participates in training sessions; maintains logs activities; prepares records and reports.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of the capabilities, programming techniques, and intricacies of the general purpose electronic computer and its peripheral equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of program requirements for conversion of mechanical and clerical processing to the system.
  • Considerable knowledge of clerical processing and punched card or tape processing techniques and procedures.
  • Skill in operating CRT terminals, and in the use of required computer languages.
  • Ability to interpret pertinent detail in symbols when reading, interpreting, or preparing charts, diagrams, and code sheets.
  • Ability to detect errors in letters, words, and numbers recorded on charts, diagrams, and code sheets.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex oral and written statements concerning a variety of fiscal and statistical problems.
  • Ability to interpret diagrammatic representations of work flow, to visualize flow of data through computer system, and to prepare computer block diagrams and logic flow charts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative officials, employees, and the public.

Two years of college with an AA certificate in electronic data processing supplemented by courses in electronic computer programming; and two (2) or more years of experience in programming electronic computers.


Note: This position must work on-site 3 - 4 days per week

Applicants with a foreign degree must provide this documentation upon the close of the announcement.Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following: 


  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and web page development.

  • Experience with the Drupal Content Management System. 

  • Experience with front end user interface design and the ability to create images/graphics. 

  • Experience creating instructional videos.

  • Experience with web accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA). 

  • Experience with document accessibility and the remediation of documents using Adobe Professional with the CommonLook PDF Extension. 

  • Experience with the agile development methodology and the Jira Software toolset.

  • Experience with Jira Service Management and the development of request types, workflows and automations.


Salary : $64,191 - $124,694
