Job Summary

- Full management responsibility for facilities, operations, maintenance, planning, design, and construction, transportation and food and nutrition services.
- Consults with the Superintendent and other key staff in the formulation of policy and the development of administrative procedures related to identified areas of supervision.
- Meets with the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents and other key staff to establish goals and develop plans for the operations of the school system.
- Maintains a continuous evaluation of departmental programs and activities for efficiency, effectiveness and economy.
- Acts as liaison between the school system and other governmental agencies and departments on matters of facilities, operations, maintenance, planning, design, and construction, food and nutrition services, and transportation.
- Supervises preparation of the Capital Budget for submission to the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
- Serves on a variety of system wide committees and workgroups and may serve as the Superintendent's designee in identified circumstances.
- Oversees special projects at direction of the Superintendent.
- Interacts with elected officials, Board Counsel, and government representatives, and agencies.
- Serves on the Superintendent’s Executive Staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Master's Degree in Business/Public Administration from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
- Eight (8) years successful and increasingly responsible administrative/supervisory experience in Planning, School Construction, Maintenance, Logistics Support, Transportation, School Facilities Operations, Custodial and Food Services required;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Knowledge of relevant Federal and State Regulations and current trends and research in areas of responsibility.
- Excellent organizational and human relations skill.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
- Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
- Daily access to reliable transportation.
